How Does a Ducted System Work?

A ducted system is put together in the following manner. We have an indoor unit mounted in your roof using galvanised strapping. This indoor unit is coupled to an outdoor unit via means of interconnecting refrigeration pipework and electrical cable. The outdoor unit will be mounted in a suitable position.

Conditioned air is distributed inside your ceiling then delivered through ceiling diffusers to each room via means of IAS insulated and fire rated duct, as shown in the diagram. Different zones are switched on/off using a wall mounted zone controller.

The zone controls we use are built by Innovative Air Systems (IAS); a wholly Australian owned and operated company.

The temperature setting, fan speed, 24hr timer and on/off functions are set via a Daikin wall mounted control pad.

Drainage

Drainage from the indoor unit is achieved via a main drain and also a safety drain; these drains are insulated to prevent any condensation.

Return Air Grille

The purpose of this grille is to filter the warm unconditioned air through the machine then it goes through the cooling process all over again. This filter requires periodical cleaning to ensure the system operates efficiently.

Options

Smartzone is a new innovative product that allows you to set different temperatures in each zone. It’s a bit like climate control as opposed to air-conditioning. There is an additional cost to specify this option.

Zonestar can offer you individual control in a selected zone. There is an additional cost for each zonestar required.

Design Conditions

  • 60% Humidity
  • 32°C Ambient Temperature
